The Theory
The Rolfing® technique is built on the theory that the shape of the body
reflects how well it is operating and how well it lines up with the field of
gravity. An unbalanced body has a system fighting gravity and must be held up by
muscular effort. The connective tissues (fascia) become restricted through
life-long patterns of emotional tension, injury or poor posture. However,
healthy fascia is extremely pliable and it is the aim of the Rolfer® to increase
the health of the fascia, thereby making long-lasting, corrective changes to the
habitual way the body holds itself together.
Fundamental as well as beneficial
changes can occur when Structural Integration is applied. |
